2022 Governing Board Officers Elected
New Horizons Behavioral Health is pleased to announce its Officers for 2022 Calendar Year.
Chair: Damon A. Hoyte, Cusseta-Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners
Vice Chair: Hon. Sherrell Terry, Talbot County Probate Court Judge
Secretary: Sandra Gill, Muscogee County Member at Large
Commissioner Hoyte replaces our out-going Chair, Mr. David Ranieri from the Muscogee County Solicitor General’s Office who served as Chair from December 2018 to January 2022. Judge Terry and Ms. Gill continue to serve in their capacities. Officers may hold their positions for up to 3 years.
Commissioner Hoyte is fulfilling a leadership legacy from Chattahoochee County. Commissioner Walt Rosso served as Chair from September 2016 through December 2018. And Mr. Larry Young, an original and long-serving New Horizons’ Board Member from Stewart County served as a mentor to Commissioner Hoyte. Commissioner Hoyte is honored to continue the leadership legacy representing Chattahoochee County on the New Horizons Behavioral Health Governing Board.
New Horizons Behavioral Health is a public corporation created in state law (O.C.G 37-2-6) to provide services to persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and/or addictive diseases. The service area is Chattahoochee, Clay, Harris, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart and Talbot Counties in west central Georgia.
The Governing Board is comprised of members with governing authority appointed from each county in the service area. The bylaws of the Governing Board delegate authority to the Chief Executive Officer to manage the day-to-day activities and operations of the agency.
The Governing Board meets on the second Monday of the month at 3:30 in the afternoon in Conference Room B, Health and Human Service Building, 2100 Comer Avenue, Columbus, GA.
